Morning Mist is a pastel of a tranquil early morning scene in northwestern Connecticuut. The far hills are clouded in mist and you can see how it clears as you come forward in the scene. I had permission from a wonderful photographer, John Harney, to use his wonderful photo as a basis for my painting. I added a little more color and value to the piece.
Victoria (Vikki) Bouffard has been working as an artist for most of her life. In childhood, drawing was a favorite pastime. She began painting as a young mother, first working in oils. She studied watercolor for five years and later acrylics and colored pencil. Most recently she has been working in pastel, along with watercolor which remains her most prominent medium. She captures a “moment” in her paintings and loves the beauty of flowers, the serenity of landscapes, brooks and ocean. Work in still life is an exciting opportunity for Vikki to play with light, shadows, and the nuances of color on objects.
