The northwest hills of Connecticut have some gorgeous farmlands with beautiful vistas. This barn was in the Kent area and you could just see the trees starting to turn and a few fallen leaves on the ground. I was struck by the strong sunlight on the silo and left side of the barn, and the strong rusty red color of the barn against the sky. I was pleased that it was accepted into the 2011 Connecticut Watercolor Society Fall Juried Show.

Victoria (Vikki) Bouffard has been working as an artist for most of her life. In childhood, drawing was a favorite pastime. She began painting as a young mother, first working in oils. She studied watercolor for five years and later acrylics and colored pencil. Most recently she has been working in pastel, along with watercolor which remains her most prominent medium. She captures a “moment” in her paintings and loves the beauty of flowers, the serenity of landscapes, brooks and ocean. Work in still life is an exciting opportunity for Vikki to play with light, shadows, and the nuances of color on objects.
